Disney+ Inks Multi-Year Co-Development Deal With The Seven in Japan

Disney+ Asia has just announced a new partnership with Japan’s The Seven, Inc. to co-develop Japanese-language live-action series. This multi-year agreement is Disney’s first ongoing collaboration with a Japanese production company, focusing on creating content for global streaming audiences.

The Seven, known for producing popular titles like “Alice in Borderland” and “Yu Yu Hakusho,” will team up with Disney’s creative team to create original series that combine their unique strengths. The Tokyo-based company, owned by TBS Holdings, launched in late 2021 and has already made its mark in the industry.

Carol Choi, executive vice president of original content strategy at The Walt Disney Company APAC, expressed excitement about this new venture, highlighting the importance of investing in general entertainment and local originals on Disney+ in Japan. This collaboration marks a significant step in expanding their content offerings to cater to diverse audiences.
