According to a source familiar with the show, Mortensen will be edited out of the season, as reported by Variety. This decision comes in the wake of reports of an ongoing domestic violence investigation involving Mortensen and Paul.
The fallout has also led to the pause in Season 5 filming for “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” and the cancellation of Paul’s season of “The Bachelorette,” both under the Disney umbrella.
The newest season of “Vanderpump Villa” is scheduled to start streaming on Hulu on April 16th. The series showcases the staff working at Lisa Vanderpump’s villa, offering a behind-the-scenes look at their lives.
Furthermore, Mortensen is part of the lineup for “Unwell Winter Games,” a reality series by Alex Cooper’s Unwell Network that will premiere on YouTube soon.
Neither Mortensen’s representatives nor Unwell Network have responded to requests for comment, and NBC News is seeking a statement from Paul as well.
The decision to halt filming for Season 5 came after a meeting with ABC executives where cast members expressed concerns about Paul’s behavior. Since then, a video released by TMZ suggests a domestic violence incident involving Paul, leading ABC to cancel her “Bachelorette” season.
Two police departments in Utah are investigating domestic violence allegations concerning Paul. The investigations include claims from Mortensen and a friend about separate incidents involving domestic violence.
Mortensen has taken legal action by filing a protective order against Paul. He was granted full custody of their son, Ever, until a court hearing resolves their situation.
