Jill Halfpenny stars in Paramount+ thriller Girl Taken: First Look
Paramount+ has just given us a sneak peek at its upcoming six-part psychological thriller, Girl Taken, starring Jill Halfpenny from Coronation Street. The show, based on Hollie Overton’s novel Baby Doll, follows twin sisters Lily and Abby. Their lives are turned upside down when Lily is kidnapped by their teacher, Rick Hansen, from their quiet English town. Lily manages to escape after enduring years of captivity, only to find that the world she knew has moved on without her.
In these first-look images, we see the series diving deep into themes of trauma and fractured family relationships. Halfpenny, hailing from Gateshead, plays Eve, the mother who must come to terms with the aftermath of it all. According to the streamer, Girl Taken is a gripping tale of trauma, resilience, sisterhood, and the sacrifices one must make to reclaim their life.
The cast also includes Alfie Allen (known for Game of Thrones and Atomic) as Rick, and real-life siblings Tallulah and Delphi Evans as Lily and Abby. Other cast members include Vikash Bhai, Niamh Walsh, Levi Brown, Victoria Ekanoye, Holly Atkins, and Kiran Krishnakumar.
Produced by Clapperboard, with Mike Benson and Suzi McIntosh as executive producers and Mick Pantaleo as producer, the series has been adapted for the screen by David Turpin, Suzanne Cowie, and Nessah Muthy, with Laura Way and Bindu de Stoppani directing.
Girl Taken is set to premiere on Paramount+ and will be available internationally through Paramount Global Content Distribution. All six episodes will drop on January 8, 2026.
