Celebrate the ‘Home Alone’ Anniversary this Holiday Season: Tips and Ideas

Kevin who use CLEAR+ lanes while traveling will receive a code for complimentary CLEAR Concierge service for a future trip, and all other CLEAR members will receive Home Alone-themed ornaments at nine participating airports across the U.S.: ATL, DEN, EWR, JFK, LAX, LGA, MCO, ORD, and SEA. This partnership is a fun nod to the classic film, written by John Hughes and directed by Chris Columbus, that first hit the big screens back in November 1990.

In the movie, 8-year-old Kevin McCallister, played by Macaulay Culkin, finds himself home alone after his parents accidentally leave him behind while jetting off to Paris for a family vacation. To defend his home from thieves, Kevin sets up all sorts of clever traps around the house — a scenario we all know and love from this iconic movie.

To celebrate the film’s anniversary, Disney+ is teaming up with Prince Street Pizza to transform their Los Angeles locations into real-life Little Nero’s Pizzerias from December 10-17. This activation will feature Home Alone memorabilia, updated signage, menu boards, and custom pizza boxes for fans to enjoy. Little Nero’s will also have a presence in other locations nationwide, as well as in Chicago and Toronto, adding to the excitement surrounding the film’s anniversary.

Disney is also aiming to set a Guinness World Record by creating the world’s largest Gingerbread House, themed around Home Alone. If weather permits, this impressive installation will be open to the public on December 18 and 19 at Hollywood and Vine in Los Angeles, California.

For fans who can’t get enough of Home Alone, Criterion Pictures and Standing Ovations LLC will be hosting special anniversary screenings of the film, followed by an exclusive live interview with Macaulay Culkin where he’ll share behind-the-scenes stories and memories. Additionally, D23’s On the Road tour will bring interactive screenings of Home Alone to 19 cities across the country, complete with themed activities and giveaways for attendees.

With a total of six films in the Home Alone franchise now available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu, fans have plenty of opportunities to enjoy this timeless classic throughout the holiday season. So, if your name is Kevin and you’re traveling this year, keep an eye out for those CLEAR lanes — you might just end up with some fantastic Home Alone-themed goodies!
