Assassin’s Creed TV show by Netflix set to begin in Ancient Rome
Fans of the Assassin’s Creed franchise may soon have the chance to explore Ancient Rome through a Netflix adaptation of the popular video game series. According to a report from Nexus Point News, the upcoming TV series will be set in Ancient Rome and will include historical figures like Nero, the fifth emperor of Rome.
If Nero is indeed featured in the show, it is likely to be set between 54 to 68 AD, during his rule. While details about the adaptation are still scarce, Netflix and Ubisoft recently announced Toby Wallace as the first series regular. Described as a “high-octane thriller centered on the secret war between two shadowy factions,” the plot promises exciting storytelling.
The Assassin’s Creed TV show was given the green light by Netflix in July, marking five years since the initial announcement of the series. Although the original plan to introduce multiple series within the franchise’s universe may have evolved over the years, fans are hopeful for an anthology-style structure reminiscent of the video games.
