Taraji P. Henson starring in adaptation of ‘The Accomplice’ by 50 Cent on Peacock
Taraji P. Henson is set to take the lead in a TV adaptation of Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s novel, “The Accomplice.” The mystery drama series is currently in development at Peacock with Universal Studio Group. While there is no writer or showrunner attached yet, Jackson co-wrote the bestselling novel with Aaron Phillip Clark.
Jackson will be serving as an executive producer for the project under G-Unit Films and Television, while Henson will join as an EP with her production company TPH Entertainment. In a recent interview on “The Breakfast Club,” the rapper hinted at the project and Henson’s involvement.
The story of “The Accomplice” follows Nia Adams, played by Henson, a fearless Texas Ranger on the trail of master thief Desmond Bell. As she gets closer to capturing the criminal, she uncovers a conspiracy that challenges her to make a tough decision between revealing the truth and protecting the system she swore to serve.
Henson recently signed a two-picture acting deal with Netflix, following the success of her psychological thriller “Straw.” This new project would mark her second series at NBCUniversal streamer after the star-studded drama “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.”
Aside from this series, 50 Cent has multiple projects lined up under G-Unit Films and Television, including a new “Power” spinoff, “Power: Origins,” a boxing drama called “Fightland” at Starz, and a true crime series titled “50 Ways to Catch a Killer” at Fox Nation.
In addition, 50 Cent is working on developing “Hip Hop Cop” based on Ron Stallworth’s memoir at Hulu, and producing a docuseries about Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs for Netflix. There’s a lot in store for fans of both Henson and 50 Cent in the coming months!
