50 Cent Documentary Series Greenlit for Hulu: Exploring Rise to Global Fame

A new documentary series about 50 Cent’s life and career is in production at Hulu. The rapper, born Curtis Jackson, shared the news on Instagram, mentioning that Hulu outbid other platforms like STARZ, Netflix, and Apple. Although the rumored $75 million price tag is unconfirmed, the thrree-part docuseries has been given the green light by the Disney-owned streamer.

The series will delve into 50 Cent’s early days in Queens, New York, and follow his path to becoming a prominent figure in hip-hop. It will showcase pivotal moments in his life, including surviving a life-threatening shooting in 2000 and his breakthrough album “Get Rich or Die Tryin'” from 2003, which featured the hit song “In Da Club.” With over 30 million records sold worldwide, 50 Cent’s impact on the music industry is undeniable.

In addition to his music career, the documentary will also explore his success as a business mogul and entertainment powerhouse. His ventures in television and film, particularly as the executive producer of the popular series “Power” and its various spin-offs, will be highlighted.

The series is helmed by director Mandon Lovett, known for his work on music-centric documentaries like “Rap Caviar Presents” and “For Khadija: The French Montana Story.” Production is a collaboration between The Intellectual Property Corporation and Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television.

Showrunner Patrick Altema will work alongside executive producers 50 Cent, Eli Holzman, and Aaron Saidman from IPC to create what is described as a “definitive” portrayal of 50 Cent’s inspiring journey.
