Law & Order: SVU Season 27 Cast: Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Kelli Giddish and More

“Law & Order: SVU” is making a triumphant return this fall, with the fearless Capt. Olivia Benson leading the charge once again. The highly anticipated 27th season of the NBC series premieres on Thursday, Sept. 25, at 9 p.m. ET, with new episodes airing on Thursday nights and streaming the next day on Peacock.

Fans can also look forward to a new season of “Law & Order” premiering on the same night at 8 p.m. ET, followed by the fifth season of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” at 10 p.m. ET on Peacock. Excitingly, it seems like Christopher Meloni, who plays Elliot Stabler, will make a guest appearance in the new season of “SVU.”

Returning as the lead character, Capt. Olivia Benson, is Mariska Hargitay, who has been with the show since its inception in 1999. Hargitay describes the experience as a joy and a privilege, emphasizing the strong team dynamic on set. The show has also welcomed a new showrunner, Michele Fazekas, which Hargitay is excited about due to the sensitive subjects the show tackles.

Ice-T is back as Sergeant Odafin ‘Fin’ Tutuola, who has been offering his gritty wisdom since Season 2. The new season seems to be kicking off with some intense scenes for Fin, judging by Ice-T’s social media post showing him with a bruised eye.

Peter Scanavino, playing Assistant District Attorney Dominick ‘Sonny’ Carisi Jr., is another familiar face returning for Season 27. He shared his excitement at the opportunity to be a part of the “Law & Order” crossover event in the past and is looking forward to exploring the dynamics between his character and Amanda Rollins, played by Kelli Giddish.

Kevin Kane, who was promoted to a series regular in the previous season, continues his role as Detective Terry Bruno, providing an emotional depth to the show. Kelli Giddish, who portrays Sgt. Amanda Rollins, is back as a series regular after briefly departing the show in 2022. Mariska Hargitay has expressed her happiness at Giddish’s return, highlighting the importance of her character to the series.

Aimé Donna Kelly, who plays Capt. Renee Curry, has also been upgraded to a series regular after making appearances in previous seasons. Fans can expect to see more of her character’s interactions with Capt. Benson and the rest of the squad in the upcoming season.

Lastly, Octavio Pisano returns as Detective Joe Velasco, adding another layer of complexity to the show’s ensemble cast. With such a talented lineup of actors and exciting plotlines, “Law & Order: SVU” Season 27 promises to deliver the gripping and emotional storytelling that fans have come to love.
