Streaming Ratings: ‘Sirens’ Premiere Tops Overall Viewership
Netflix’s latest series, “Sirens,” made a big splash in its debut week, claiming the top spot in Nielsen’s streaming charts. Starring Meghann Fahy, Milly Alcock, and Julianne Moore, the show racked up an impressive 1.36 billion minutes of viewing time for the week of May 19-25, making it the only title to cross the billion-minute mark. “Sirens” also had the highest weekly viewing time since “You” back in April.
Hulu also saw some positive trends with its series. “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” saw a 19 percent increase in viewing minutes, hitting 810 million for the week. Meanwhile, “The Handmaid’s Tale” experienced a 30 percent growth with 637 million minutes, just before its series finale.
On HBO Max, “The Last of Us” garnered 707 million minutes of watch time in the lead-up to its season two finale. It had a slight dip in ratings but still managed to make it to the overall top 10. “Andor,” the previous week’s leader, maintained its position in the top 10 originals with 527 million viewing minutes following its series finale.
In the movie category, the 2018 film “Instant Family” took the top spot with 484 million minutes of viewing on Netflix and Paramount+. “The Wild Robot” also saw a boost with 440 million minutes after joining Netflix.
