CBS Cancels 4 Shows and Adds 4 New Ones in Summer and Fall Lineup

Stephen Colbert recently said goodbye to “The Late Show” on CBS after 11 years. This marked the end of the franchise that originally started with David Letterman. But it turns out, Colbert’s show is not the only one being cut from CBS this year.

In addition to “The Late Show,” CBS has also decided to drop a few other programs, including the medical drama “Watson,” Tim Meadows’ comedy “DMV,” and “The Neighborhood” amidst some schedule changes. CBS Entertainment President, Amy Reisenbach, expressed her fondness for “DMV” and “Watson,” calling them a joy to work on. However, with the high standards at CBS, tough decisions have to be made to pave the way for new shows.

As part of their Fall 2026-27 schedule announcement, CBS unveiled four new shows set to premiere soon, while 19 returning shows are also in the lineup. Some of the fan favorites that will be coming back include “NCIS,” “CIA,” “Harlan Coben’s Final Twist,” “Survivor,” and “The Amazing Race.”

One of the renewals that garnered significant attention was the hit “Yellowstone” spin-off “Marshals,” which became the most-streamed CBS series premiere ever. The show attracted a whopping 20.6 million viewers on Paramount+ within just seven days of its release.

For the upcoming fall season, viewers can look forward to tuning in to shows like “FBI,” “CIA,” “Harlan Coben’s Final Twist,” and “NCIS” on their regular time slots. It seems like CBS has a lot in store for its audience, balancing familiar favorites with exciting new additions.
