Stephen Colbert’s Plans for Morning After Final Late Show

Stephen Colbert is gearing up for life after The Late Show, and he’s got some exciting family plans in the works. The 62-year-old late-night host, who is in the midst of his final week on the show, recently shared that his brother Tommy is tying the knot on Saturday. After the last episode airs, which will be attended by all of his siblings and their spouses, they’ll be hopping on a train to head down to Washington, D.C.

Colbert made it clear that the focus the next day won’t be on him, but rather on his brother’s wedding celebration – and he couldn’t be more thrilled about it. The comedian humorously noted that his family members all believe they have great singing voices, especially the men, and they plan to let loose, have a few drinks, and hit the dance floor.

In another family milestone, Colbert proudly mentioned that his youngest son, John, recently submitted his senior thesis and is set to graduate from Yale University. Colbert and his wife, Evelyn, who have been married since 1993, have three adult children – daughter Madeleine and sons Peter and John.

The Late Show franchise is coming to an end after 33 years, with Colbert taking over from David Letterman in 2015. The announcement of the show’s cancellation last July sparked some controversy, as it came shortly after Colbert criticized CBS’s parent company for a settlement with President Donald Trump. Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren and other politicians and celebrities raised questions about the timing of the cancellation, suggesting political motivations.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the show’s end, Colbert is focusing on family and celebrating these joyful milestones. The final episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will air on Thursday at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS. It seems Colbert has a lot to look forward to as he transitions from late-night TV to family celebrations.
