Creators of ‘Hacks’ Reflect on their Emmy Nominations: Incredible Achievement

HBO Max’s comedy series, “Hacks,” has been a standout at the Emmy Awards since it began in 2021, racking up a total of 64 nominations over its first four seasons, with 12 wins to boot.

But the final season of the show really stole the spotlight, setting a new record in Emmy history by snagging a whopping 24 nominations (or 25 if you count the short-form series, “Hacks: Bit by Bit”). This beat out the previous record of 23 nominations held by “The Studio” in 2025 and “The Bear” in 2024.

The creators of “Hacks,” Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky, were understandably emotional when they found out about the record-breaking news. They used the word “overwhelming” to describe their feelings, which gives a glimpse into just how much this achievement means to them.

For Downs, the recognition felt like the perfect way to tie up the series. He shared with The Hollywood Reporter, “It’s obviously our last go round for the Emmys, so it feels like such an incredible way to end. The fact that so many of [the cast and crew] are being recognized, and for the first time for many of them, just feels incredibly gratifying. Because we could not have made this show without any of them.”
