Apple TV App Offers Free 4K Upgrades for Select TV Shows
Apple is making some exciting changes for TV show lovers! If you’ve been enjoying TV series like Mad Men, you’re in luck. Apple is upgrading select shows to 4K quality on its Apple TV app, replacing the old iTunes Store. Right now, Mad Men is leading the pack with all seven seasons available in glorious 4K. Other series like The RVers, Auto Exotica, and Ice Airport Alaska are also getting the 4K treatment, but just for select seasons at the moment.
These upgrades aren’t happening all at once, so keep an eye out for your favorites. Apple has been offering 4K and HDR content on its iTunes store for about a decade, starting with the Apple TV 4K release. Back then, they even upgraded purchased movies to 4K/HDR for free. Impressive, right?
While Apple’s subscription service already offers movies and TV shows in 4K and Dolby Vision quality, the same doesn’t apply to all the content you can buy on demand. However, that might change in the future. Apple is really going the extra mile by giving these quality upgrades for free. In contrast, Sony recently announced that over 500 movies would be removed from some users’ libraries due to expired content licenses.
It’s great to see Apple keeping up with the times and making sure we all get to enjoy our favorite shows in the best quality possible. Who knows, maybe soon all your purchased content will be in stunning 4K! Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting upgrades.
