Relaxing Angler Activities at Waterford Ponds for Fishing Enthusiasts

For Mackenzie Peacock and Madison Swarts, their idea of relaxing involves ice fishing or ice camping. They recently enjoyed a day out on the Waterford Ponds, spending a few hours trying their luck at catching some fish. Despite not reeling in any catches, they had a great time chatting, listening to music, and staying warm with a heater.

This was their first time ice fishing at the Waterford Ponds, as the ice in their usual spot at Inner Bay of Long Point wasn’t quite thick enough yet. The ice at Waterford Ponds was about six to seven inches thick, providing a safe and enjoyable experience for the group.

While they usually also indulge in ice camping, they mentioned it might be a couple of weeks before they can partake in that activity due to the thickness of the ice. Ice camping involves taking a hut out onto the lake with cots, spending the night under the stars, and waking up to a beautiful morning view.

Despite the lack of catches, the group saw it as a great opportunity to test their equipment and enjoy the outdoors. They mentioned trying out different fishing spots in Norfolk in the future. The upcoming warm spell in the forecast might delay their plans for ice fishing in their preferred spot, the Inner Bay.
