Likelihood of Netflix Making Play for NBCUniversal Post Spin-Off

Last fall, Netflix made big headlines with an $82.7 billion deal to buy Warner Bros. Now, the news that Comcast plans to spin off NBCUniversal has people wondering: Could Netflix be eyeing another major acquisition with NBCU?

After an intense six-week period, Paramount Skydance ultimately outbid Netflix for Warner Bros, despite multiple rejections. The question now is whether Netflix might jump back into the merger and acquisitions game to try to snag NBCU.

Separated from Comcast, NBCU looks somewhat similar to the Warner Bros. businesses that Netflix acquired. Both have streaming services like Peacock and HBO Max, plus TV and film studios that could boost Netflix’s content offerings. Interestingly, Comcast itself made a bid for Warner Bros. assets in December 2025, showing they are a player in this space.
