Netflix Makes Sharing an Account Harder with Email Verification

This means that when you try to access a secondary profile, you’ll be prompted to enter a separate email address. The purpose behind this change, as Netflix explains in the pop-up notification, is to make signing in easier, recover your account, receive personalized recommendations, and more.
While this change may seem inconvenient, there’s a silver lining. You can still use the primary account holder’s login to access the Netflix account. However, if you want to set up or access a separate profile, you’ll need to provide a unique email address for each one. This feature allows up to five distinct profiles per account, ensuring that each member of the household can keep their watch history and recommendations separate.
On a related note, Netflix has been cracking down on account sharing for a while now. They have implemented measures to detect account sharing outside of primary households, prompting users to enter a login code or locking them out. This crackdown aims to increase the number of legitimate Netflix accounts, with an increase in users opting for the ad-supported tier. While this may be a hassle for some, the latest email requirement for separate profiles does come with its perks.
