Renault Adds Google Gemini, Waze, HBO Max to Vehicles for Enhanced Connectivity

Renault is bringing some exciting updates to its cars by adding Google Gemini, Waze, HBO Max, and Amazon Music to selected vehicles built since 2022. The best part? Existing cars will be able to enjoy these new features through a simple over-the-air update.

With this update, the openR link infotainment system will now integrate Google Gemini, allowing for direct control of vehicle functions like air conditioning and settings. Plus, Google Gemini can access important vehicle data, such as the range on electric vehicles (EVs).

One of the cool features of Google Gemini is its ability to understand the context of conversations, handle complex requests, and engage in natural conversation. This means that interacting with your car’s infotainment system will feel more intuitive and user-friendly.

Renault mentioned that adding Google Gemini will help minimize driver distraction, make it easier to access vehicle functions, and improve overall convenience for drivers. And the good news is that Google Gemini is available for free, and drivers have the option to opt-in or not to this service.

Even more exciting is the upcoming Gemini Live update, which will allow users to interrupt the assistant at any time, make multiple requests in a row, and even switch languages during a conversation. This will take the user experience to the next level!

This update is available for all cars with the openR link infotainment system, which was launched in 2022 with the Megane E-Tech. Stay tuned for even more updates and improvements to come in the future!
