World Cup Guide: US faces crucial decisions in final group-stage match against Turkey

The United States has one more game to play in the World Cup group stage and there are some choices on the table for the team. Even though the Americans have secured a spot in the knockout stage by winning Group D, they will be facing Turkey, who hasn’t won a game yet, in Inglewood, California on Thursday.

Christian Pulisic, who missed the last game against Australia, is back in training. However, coach Mauricio Pochettino needs to figure out how much playing time to give his star player in a game that doesn’t impact the standings and with the knockout stage just around the corner.

There are also similar decisions to be made for Tyler Adams, Folarin Balogun, Chris Richards, and Antonee Robinson. They all have yellow cards and would miss the first knockout game if they get another one playing against Turkey.

The U.S. has made history by winning back-to-back World Cup matches for the first time since 1930. The team’s six goals in the first two matches are just one shy of tying the team’s record for a World Cup.

On the other hand, Turkey has yet to score a single goal in this World Cup, and they are already out of the running. Thursday will be a busy day in the World Cup, with a total of six matches taking place.
