Telemundo and Peacock See 277% Increase in World Cup Streaming Audience

The excitement around the 2026 FIFA World Cup is contagious, with streaming audiences on the rise! NBCU’s Peacock and Telemundo, the exclusive streaming platforms for the tournament in the U.S., have shared some exciting stats. An average of 2.3 million viewers tuned in to catch at least part of the action during the first two weeks, marking a substantial 277% increase from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Why the surge in viewership? Well, several factors are at play. With the tournament happening in North America, fans can enjoy marquee matches live during primetime. Plus, Peacock’s subscriber base has grown significantly since 2022, now boasting a whopping 46 million users, compared to just 20 million previously.

Through the first 40 matches, the Average Minute Audience (AMA) across Peacock and Telemundo platforms is hitting 2.3 million viewers, a whopping 277% jump from the same period during the 2022 World Cup. AMA is an average count of viewers tuning in at any given minute during the broadcast.

The numbers don’t stop there! The Total Audience Delivery (TAD) for these matches has averaged 5.5 million viewers, up 141% compared to the 2022 World Cup. So far, 19 matches have drawn in more than 5 million viewers, a significant jump from just two matches at the same point in the previous tournament.

And when it comes to specific matches, the U.S. men’s showdown against Australia was a big hit, delivering a TAD of 6.8 million viewers, showing a 46% increase from the 2022 matchup against England. This game now stands as the second most-watched U.S. Men’s FIFA World Cup match ever in Spanish!

Audience engagement is at an all-time high, with a staggering 26.2 billion total minutes consumed across Telemundo, Peacock, and other streaming platforms during the first 40 matches of the tournament. This has already surpassed the 22 billion total minutes consumed during the entire 2022 World Cup in Spanish, according to Telemundo.

The excitement continues to build, and it’s clear that fans are loving the action-packed matches streaming across these platforms. With record-breaking viewership and engagement, the 2026 FIFA World Cup is shaping up to be one for the books!
