FX Announces Release Date for ‘Snowfall’ Spinoff ‘The Drop’

FX has announced that the “Snowfall” spinoff series, “The Drop: A Snowfall Saga,” is set to premiere on September 8 on FX and Hulu. The show will consist of eight episodes and will also be available for streaming on Disney+ internationally. The series will release one episode weekly at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.

“The Drop” picks up where “Snowfall” left off, exploring the crack cocaine epidemic in LA. Gail Bean and Isaiah John will reprise their roles as Wanda Bell and Leon Simmons in the new series.

The official logline for the show sets the stage for Wanda’s journey as she believes that West Coast rap has the potential to reshape American culture. She sets out to assemble a group of talented individuals to achieve their dreams, facing challenges in the music and street politics realm. As she navigates this path, Wanda will involve her cousins Lamar Kinsey (Asante Blackk) and James Kinsey (Peyton Alex Smith) and pursue the local rapper Artillery (Simmie “Buddy” Sims III). The series will also delve into her relationship with Darryl “DG” Grant (Brandon Mychal Smith) and the tensions it creates with Leon, who is determined to leave the streets behind and find redemption through his legal clinic.

Ambition, loyalty, and survival will clash as the characters ponder the risks they are willing to take to establish something meaningful in a challenging environment.
