Colin Farrell to Return for The Penguin Season 2 with One Condition

Colin Farrell is open to returning for more seasons of HBO’s acclaimed crime drama ‘The Penguin’, as long as the quality is top-notch. At the season 2 premiere of his Apple TV+ series Sugar, Farrell expressed interest in further exploring the involvement of his character in the Gotham-set series. He underlined the importance of maintaining the high standard set by the first season and ensuring that any future installments offer compelling reasons for their existence.

While Farrell, who is set to appear in the next Batman film, acknowledged the potential for more ‘The Penguin’ seasons, he mentioned that active discussions might have to wait until the Batman project progresses further. With a focus on bringing the Caped Crusader back to the big screen, additional seasons of ‘The Penguin’ are not a current priority. However, once filming for the movie is complete, there may be room to consider subsequent seasons, provided they live up to the remarkable work done in the first season by showrunner Lauren LeFranc and her team.

Reflecting on his role as John Sugar in season 2 of ‘Sugar’, Farrell admitted to feeling nervous about returning to a character he had embodied before. Despite any initial apprehensions, the actor praised his character for the emotional depth and expressed enjoyment while diving back into the role.

As Farrell continues his journey in these captivating series, his dedication to maintaining quality and exploring new dimensions within his characters shines through. His nuanced approach to portraying complex individuals on screen adds an element of depth that keeps viewers coming back for more.
