White Peacock Roams Boise Neighborhood
A gorgeous white peacock has been turning heads along the Ridenbaugh Canal on the Bench in Boise, becoming a familiar sight for neighbors who have come to know him as “Screech.” This stunning bird has been a part of the neighborhood landscape for about two decades now, parading around with undeniable flair.
Contrary to popular belief, most white peacocks are not albinos. Instead, their snowy white feathers are a result of a rare genetic condition known as leucism. This condition strips the plumage of its pigment while keeping their eyes in their natural hues.
It’s hard to miss Screech as he struts through the area, delighting onlookers with his elegant presence. So, if you find yourself near the Ridenbaugh Canal, keep your eyes peeled for this one-of-a-kind, majestic creature roaming the neighborhood with grace and charm.
