Taylor Parker’s current whereabouts explored in Netflix documentary ‘Maternal Instinct’

People have been buzzing about Netflix’s latest true crime documentary, “Maternal Instinct,” which delves into the shocking case of Taylor Parker and the murder of Reagan Simmons-Hancock back in October 2020. Parker’s elaborate fake pregnancy scheme and the tragic events that unfolded afterwards captivated audiences.

In the documentary, it’s revealed that Parker, then 27 years old, claimed to have given birth after being pulled over by a state trooper on her way to the hospital. However, medical examinations quickly exposed the truth – Parker had not given birth, and the baby she presented as her own was actually the child of Reagan Simmons-Hancock, a young woman she had done photography work for.

The story takes a dark turn when it’s revealed that Parker attacked and killed Simmons-Hancock in her home, forcibly removed her baby from her womb, and attempted to pass the infant off as her own. The documentary uses interviews and video clips to delve into the deception and violence that ensued.

Following her arrest in October 2020, Parker was convicted of capital murder in the death of Simmons-Hancock and her unborn child. Despite the seriousness of her crimes, Parker showed no remorse in court and even engaged in further deceit while behind bars, attempting to frame another inmate for the murder.

Currently, Parker is being held at the Patrick L. O’Daniel Unit in Gatesville, Texas, where she is the youngest of seven women on death row in the state. She has appealed her conviction, but in 2025, her request for a new trial was denied. Even though she has exhausted her direct appeals, the process of habeas corpus review could delay any potential execution date for years.

While the story of Taylor Parker is both tragic and disturbing, “Maternal Instinct” sheds light on the consequences of deception and violence, serving as a cautionary tale for viewers.
