EJ Tackett Makes History with Fourth Consecutive AMF PBA World Championship Victory
EJ Tackett made history by winning his unprecedented fourth consecutive AMF PBA World Championship title. In an intense final match against Zach Wilkins, Tackett secured his victory with a final score of 188-181. Tackett expressed his overwhelming emotions, stating, “I can’t even put it into words what this feels like right now, to do something that no one else has ever done in the history of our sport.”
The nail-biting final frame of the championship left spectators inside the Strobl Arena at AMF Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Mich., as well as viewers around the world on CBS and Paramount+, speechless. Despite Wilkins’ impressive performance leading up to the finals, which included six consecutive wins as the No. 7 seed, he narrowly missed a crucial spare in the final frame, costing him the title. This match took place on the same lanes where Tackett suffered a heartbreaking loss just two months prior at the USBC Masters.
This victory marked Tackett’s 28th PBA Tour title and his eighth major championship. His incredible achievement of winning four consecutive AMF PBA World Championships also earned him a hefty $100,000 prize. The nine players who made it to the stepladder finals had competed in 66 qualifying games during the PBA World Series of Bowling XVII the previous month.
Looking ahead, the PBA Tour powered by Go Bowling will continue with the Magnum Ice Cream Company PBA Norm Duke Open next Tuesday in Pennsylvania. Stay tuned for more updates on this remarkable accomplishment in PBA history!
