Jem and the Holograms Live-Action Series by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan
Great news for fans of Jem and the Holograms! It turns out that a new, live-action adaptation of the classic ’80s animated series is in the works for Prime Video. Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan’s Kilter Films banner (known for Westworld and Fallout) are on board as producers, along with Gabriel Marano for Hasbro Entertainment. This show is expected to be an “elevated live-action technothriller.”
The original Jem and the Holograms series aired from 1985 to 1988, during the rise of MTV and music videos. The show follows the story of Jerrica Benton, a record company owner who transforms into her rockstar alter-ego, Jem, the lead singer of the band. Fun fact: Jem was actually the most-watched syndicated animated series during its three-season run, outperforming iconic shows like Transformers and He-Man!
While a previous live-action attempt at Jem and the Holograms didn’t do so well, this new iteration is generating a lot of excitement among fans. We can’t wait to see what the talented team behind this new series has in store for us. Are there any die-hard Jem and the Holograms fans here? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
