Top Revelations from Netflix’s Michael Jackson Documentary: The Verdict

Netflix is diving into the details of Michael Jackson’s 2005 child molestation trial and all the craziness that surrounded it in a new three-part docuseries.

“Michael Jackson: The Verdict,” which dropped on Wednesday, goes back to that intense legal battle with fresh interviews from the key players in the case, like members of the prosecution and defense, journalists who were on the scene throughout the four-month trial, and even some of the jurors.

Remember, this was when Jackson was accused of molesting 13-year-old Gavin Arvizo at his Neverland Ranch in California.

Even though the “Billie Jean” singer was ultimately acquitted of all charges in 2005, the interest in the case has not waned since his passing in 2009.

The docuseries drops hot on the tail of the hugely successful “Michael” biopic, but this time around the film didn’t touch on the allegations or the trial. However, a sequel is reportedly in the works.

“It was time” to dig up the details of Jackson’s trial and get to the bottom of the unanswered questions, said “Michael Jackson: The Verdict” director Nick Green and executive producer, Fiona Stourton. They shared their thoughts with Netflix’s Tudum saying this documentary would give fans a closer look at what went down behind closed doors.

And here are some of the most jaw-dropping moments that came out of “Michael Jackson: The Verdict.”

In the first part of the series, we hear from former crisis publicist and associate Vincent Amen, who was working with Jackson during the media frenzy. He opens up about his time looking after Gavin and his family at the Neverland Ranch.

Amen spills the beans that he still has Polaroid pictures of Gavin’s mom, Janet, and his brother, Star, from their time at Neverland Ranch in his possession. The picture of Star has a touching message that reads, “I love you, my daddy Michael. Your son, Blowhole.”

On top of that, Amen claims that Jackson’s friend and assistant, Frank Tyson, admitted to him that he and Jackson would order and watch child porn together. And allegedly, Michael had crafted some crude nicknames for the young boys in his social circle.

In an even more shocking revelation, Amen details how Tyson cleaned his house after Jackson was arrested in 2003 and handed him a Nike bag. Curious about what was inside, Amen found a lewd magazine with children in compromising positions.

When Amen confronted Tyson about this disturbing discovery, Tyson reportedly revealed that it was a phase they went through together, and they watched those explicit videos side by side.

Jackson’s intake of substances also reportedly skyrocketed after his arrest, with his defense attorney Mark Geragos describing it as “astronomical.” Tyson may not have responded to requests for comments on these allegations.
