Nicola Walker and Jemaine Clement Join Cast at Disney

Disney+ just hosted the UK premiere of “Alice and Steve” in London, set to stream exclusively on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US starting June 8. The event brought together the talented cast, including Nicola Walker and Jemaine Clement, writer-creator Sophie Goodhart, director Tom Kingsley, and the executive producers from Clerkenwell Films.

The screening kicked off with an introduction by Angela Jain, Head of Content at Disney+. Guests enjoyed the first two episodes of the series and participated in an engaging Q&A session with the cast moderated by Judi Love and Vogue Williams.

Nicola Walker shared her thoughts on her character, Alice, saying, “I love Alice! You’re never going where you expect. It’s always more fun fighting than being friends, it’s fun being arch enemies like Alice and Steve become.” Jemaine Clement expressed his excitement about playing Steve, mentioning that he knew he wanted to work with Nicola from page five of the script.

The writer-creator, Sophie Goodhart, described “Alice and Steve” as a complicated love story, while director Tom Kingsley praised the humor in the script, emphasizing that he wasn’t worried about the comedy aspect. Yali Topol Margalith, who plays Izzy, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with Nicola and Jemaine, calling it a dream experience.

The series previously premiered at CANNESERIES in April, receiving accolades and three awards, including ‘Best Series’. “Alice and Steve” will also have its US premiere at the Tribeca Festival next month. Created and written by Sophie Goodhart, the show promises to deliver an engaging narrative with all six episodes available on Disney+ from June 8.
