Elvis Presley in Concert Comes to Paramount+ Following Successful Box Office Run

Get ready Elvis Presley fans, because Baz Luhrmann’s EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert is headed to Paramount+ this week! The film had a successful run in theaters worldwide and is now making its way to streaming video on demand.

Originally opening in theaters on Feb. 20 for a one-week IMAX engagement, EPiC premiered nationwide on Feb. 27. After a successful run, the film transitioned to digital streaming via premium video on demand on April 7. Director Baz Luhrmann shared that much of the footage used in the film, including previously unseen 16 mm footage from Elvis: That’s the Way It Is and Elvis on Tour concert films, was unearthed from storage in the salt mines of Kansas.

A total of 59 hours of footage were discovered, stored in 69 boxes to protect the film negatives from water damage in the salt mines. Some additional footage came from 8 mm film found in Elvis Presley’s Graceland archives. Luhrmann expressed excitement about the unique footage they uncovered and the opportunity to work with Peter Jackson and Park Road Post Production to enhance the film to unseen levels. The goal was to showcase Elvis in his prime and make viewers feel as though they were right there.

On June 3, EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert will start streaming on SVOD on Paramount+. For those who don’t have a subscription, Paramount+ offers an ad-based Essential plan for $8.99 per month and an ad-free Premium plan for $13.99 per month.

Not only did EPiC perform well in theaters, with a total box office earnings of $23.4 million, but it also won over critics on Rotten Tomatoes. With a 97% “fresh” score from critics and a 98% rating from viewers, the film has been praised for its captivating storytelling and unseen glimpses into Elvis Presley’s life and music.
