‘Love Island USA Season 8 Premiere Delayed Due to Contestant Removal for Racial Slur’
Love Island USA recently made headlines as contestant Vasana Montgomery was removed from Season 8 due to videos surfacing of her using a racial slur. Montgomery, a 25-year-old salon owner from Beaverton, Oregon, was cut from the show after the damaging clips emerged just days before the premiere.
The revelation came shortly after Peacock announced the lineup for Season 8, set to debut on June 2. In a teaser video leading up to the premiere, Montgomery described herself as the “full package,” highlighting her business ownership, living situation, and ownership of a dog. While she has not addressed her abrupt departure from the show or the use of the slur, it remains uncertain whether she had already started filming for Love Island USA before being removed.
This is not the first time Love Island USA has dealt with such situations. In Season 7, contestants Yulissa Escobar and Cierra Ortega were also ousted for using racial slurs in past videos or social media posts. Escobar later addressed the issue in an Instagram post, expressing remorse for her actions and acknowledging the impact of her words, despite not realizing it at the time. Ortega similarly took accountability for her past language, apologizing to those she had offended.
As Season 8 gears up for its premiere on June 2 at 9 p.m. ET on Peacock, viewers can expect more drama and entertainment from the popular reality show.
