Erin and Ben Napier HGTV show wrapping up as MS hotel reopening after fire?

Erin and Ben Napier, the hosts of HGTV’s ‘Home Town,’ took on their most ambitious project yet in their new show “Home Town: Inn This Together.” The series follows the couple, alongside their friends, as they renovated the Heirloom Hotel, a historic building in Laurel, Miss., that had been vacant for 40 years.

In a trailer for the show, Erin Napier expressed the significance of the project, saying, “It doesn’t matter how much progress we see in downtown Laurel. As long as its most iconic building stands vacant and empty and dilapidated, we will not feel like we’ve really done something.” The Heirloom Hotel, a 29-room boutique hotel, was meant to be the crown jewel of Laurel, showcasing the Napiers’ unique design style.

However, just as the project neared completion and was set to welcome its first guests, a devastating fire broke out on August 26, 2025. The Laurel Fire Department, with assistance from the Ellisville Fire Department, worked tirelessly to extinguish the blaze. Fortunately, no injuries were reported due to the building being unoccupied, but there was significant fire and water damage.

Sadly, the fire was deemed accidental, caused by an electrical issue. As for the future of the Heirloom Hotel, details about when it will be repaired and open to guests remain unknown at this time. In an optimistic post on the Heirloom Hotel’s Facebook page in October, it was stated, “If the Lord’s willing, we will keep building!”
