Tom Hanks Cast as Abraham Lincoln in Film Adaptation of ‘Lincoln in the Bardo’

Tom Hanks, a two-time Academy Award winner, is set to play Abraham Lincoln in the film adaptation of Lincoln in the Bardo. This project, supported by Starburns Industries, will be Hanks’ first portrayal of a U.S. president on screen. In addition to acting, Hanks will also produce the film through his Playtone production company, in collaboration with Gary Goetzman.

Based on the bestselling novel by George Saunders, the movie will be written by Saunders himself. Duke Johnson, an Oscar-nominated filmmaker known for Anomalisa, will direct and produce the film. Production is scheduled to begin in London and will be the first project under Starburns’ new film fund.

Unlike previous portrayals of Lincoln focusing on his political achievements, this adaptation will delve into the president’s personal grief following the death of his son. Blending live-action with stop-motion animation, the film aims to explore themes of love, empathy, and human resilience in the face of unimaginable loss.

Scheduled to begin production soon, the film promises a unique and intimate perspective on one of America’s most iconic leaders. Stay tuned for more updates on this groundbreaking project!
