Disney Annecy: Get a First Look at ‘Cars: Lightning Racers’ and More
Disney+ and Disney Television Animation are gearing up to unveil some exciting new animated shows at the Annecy Festival this year! From June 21-27, festival attendees can look forward to getting a sneak peek at upcoming projects that will be coming to the streaming platform.
One of the highlights will be “Cars: Lightning Racers,” a new preschool series inspired by the beloved Disney and Pixar “Cars” films. Set to debut on Disney+ in 2027, this series will follow Lightning McQueen, Mater, and a cast of new characters on exciting racing adventures in Radiator Springs. Fans can catch an exclusive first look and panel discussion about the series, featuring insights from executive producers Travis Braun and Frank Montagna, as well as supervising director Nathan Chew. Plus, Pixar producer Mary Alice Drumm will join the panel to talk about the evolution of the Cars franchise over the years.
In addition to “Cars: Lightning Racers,” festival attendees can also catch a screening of “The Doomies,” a supernatural comedy-adventure series premiering on Disney+. This show follows best friends Bobby and Romy as they unintentionally unleash a horde of terrifying creatures in their coastal town.
And don’t miss out on “Dragon Striker,” a new series set to debut on Disney+ in 2026. Produced by La Chouette Compagnie in collaboration with Disney Television Animation, this show will take viewers into an elite academy where students compete in a magical sport called Goratama. Audiences can get a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process during a live drawing session with co-creator and director Charles Lefebvre and concept artist Claire Sun.
