Five New Cast Members Announced for Newest Hulu/Disney+ Series

A new mystery series called “Phony” is in the works from 20th Television, set to premiere on Hulu and Disney+ soon. The show follows Sonny, a teenager who wakes up in the hospital after a car accident only to find his mom, Ellen, has been replaced by an imposter.

The cast includes Connie Britton and Sam Nivola, with other characters played by Meera Syal, Grace Brennan, Mahaela Park, Maliq Johnson, and Colter Lee. Meera Syal portrays Sharla, a private investigator hired by Sonny to find his mother. Sharla is tough but sensitive, with a belief in alternative knowledge. Grace Brennan plays Mallory, Sonny’s middle school crush who struggles to fit in and voice her opinions.

Mahaela Park portrays Chloe, Sonny’s girlfriend and the class president, who cares deeply for Sonny but feels misunderstood. Maliq Johnson is Vogel, Sonny’s childhood best friend and a soccer team member questioning his love for sports. And Colter Lee plays Weldon, Mallory’s cousin and a new student at Delby High who believes in Sonny’s quest to find his real mother.
