Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Getaway on Disney+

Last summer, 20th Century Studios announced that a new animated film based on the 12th book in the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series, titled “The Getaway,” was in the works. The story follows Greg Heffley and his family as they escape the stress of the Christmas holiday by heading to a tropical island resort. However, their vacation takes a chaotic turn as they encounter sun-poisoning, stomach troubles, and venomous creatures.

Jeff Kinney, the creator of the book series and an executive producer on the films, recently appeared on the Today Show to discuss his books. He confirmed that the new animated film will be coming to Disney+ later this year, just in time for the holidays. While no further details have been announced yet, fans can expect more information to be shared at the D23: Ultimate Fan Event in August.
