Maul Shadow Lord: Hitting 4.1 Million Views with High Rotten Tomatoes Score
The newest Star Wars animated series, “Maul – Shadow Lord,” has been a massive hit, capturing the attention of viewers around the world. After just one week and four episodes on Disney+, the show continues to impress, maintaining a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
This incredible score makes “Maul – Shadow Lord” the highest-rated Star Wars project to date. Even popular animated shows like Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars Visions fall slightly below, with 98% scores, followed by Andor at 96%, and the original Star Wars film, Episode IV – A New Hope, at 94%. The audience score, known as the Popcornmeter, for “Maul – Shadow Lord” is also very high at 94%.
Critics have praised the show, with the consensus stating, “An inspired look into the depths of an iconic character, Maul once again proves that through kinetic, vibrant, and engaging animation, the Star Wars saga can continue in masterful spades.”
The first two episodes of “Maul – Shadow Lord” premiered on April 6, quickly amassing a global viewership of 4.1 million. The show has become the #1 trending series on Disney+ in the United States, consistently ranking among the top titles on Disney+ Top 10 Today since its release.
Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm’s President and Chief Creative Officer, commended the team behind the animated series, saying, “I’m very proud of our team as they continue to challenge themselves and raise the bar on our animated shows. They’ve done a fantastic job delivering something new and exciting with this series, and we are all really happy that fans are enjoying it.”
The 10-episode season will continue to release new episodes at 12 a.m. PT on Mondays until Star Wars Day on May the 4th. Due to its immense success, the show has already been renewed for a second season.
