Nielsen Report: ‘Zootopia 2’ Boosts Disney+ Weekly TV Viewership Through March 15

Disney+ did something amazing the week ending March 15—they beat out Netflix in household TV viewership with the hit movie Zootopia 2. According to Nielsen, the animated feature was the most-watched overall, with a whopping 1.72 billion minutes consumed in just one week. And it wasn’t just kids tuning in—adults 18-49 made up 44% of the viewership, and kids 2-11 contributed 39%.

This win for Disney+ is no small feat, as Netflix typically holds the top spot in Nielsen’s weekly rankings. In the past year, only three Disney+ titles have managed to climb to the top of the household TV streaming charts. These include fan favorites like “Bluey,” “The Mandalorian,” and “Andor.”

But Netflix wasn’t far behind, with its live-action series “One Piece” releasing its second season on March 10 and capturing an impressive 1.62 billion minutes across just 16 episodes. This show ranked No. 2 overall and No. 1 among original series, attracting a predominantly young male audience.

Other streaming platforms also saw success, with Hulu’s “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” making a comeback in the top 10 after debuting its fourth season on March 12. The show garnered 722 million minutes across 40 episodes, with young adults 18-34 making up more than half of the viewers.

Overall, it’s clear that the battle for viewership dominance in the streaming world is as fierce as ever, with platforms constantly vying for the top spot with exciting new content.
