Daniel Susac’s debut MLB start a dream for his family

Daniel Susac had a whirlwind introduction to the big leagues. The story began in Orlando at the Rule 5 Draft, where he was picked by the Minnesota Twins and then traded to the Giants. His brother, Andrew, who happened to have played for the Giants himself, got wind of the trade and reached out to none other than Buster Posey for confirmation.

Fast forward to Daniel’s first MLB start, and it was a full-circle moment for the Susac family. Andrew reminisced about watching his youngest brother grow up in the Giants’ tunnels, and now, there he was, stepping up to the plate for his memorable debut. And memorable it was – Daniel singled on the first two pitches he saw in the big leagues and finished the game with three hits and a walk. The last Giant to reach base four times in his debut start was Kevin Frandsen back in 2006.

It was not just a proud moment for Daniel, but for the whole Susac family, with their enthusiasm even catching the attention of Giants’ fans. And after all the waiting and anticipation, Daniel sure didn’t disappoint. The Giants are keeping a close eye on him, as the Rule 5 pick must stay on the roster all year or risk going back to the A’s. But Susac’s impressive performance in his debut shows that he’s one to watch this season.
