Series Mania awards: HBO Max’s Proud and TF1’s All Shapes of Us Named Big Winners

Some big winners emerged at the recent Series Mania awards, showcasing the best in TV entertainment from around the world. The festival celebrated shows from Poland, the UK, and Sweden, drawing a crowd of over 5,000 industry professionals from 75 countries in the French city of Lille.

In the international competition, the Polish series Proud from HBO Max took home the grand prize, with Dennis Kelly winning best screenplay for the BBC series Waiting for the Out. Actors Amanda Jansson and Ignacy Liss were recognized as the best actress and actor, respectively.

Over in France, TF1’s All Shapes of Us (Grandiose) claimed the best series prize. Manon Kneusé and Karim Leklou were named best actress and actor for their roles in Arte’s Camarades and Eldorado. Amine Bouhafa’s original score for HBO Max’s Privilèges was singled out for praise.

Comedy also had its moment with Mackenzie Crook’s Small Prophets winning best series in the international panorama. Stellar performances from Lauren Patel and Maxime Le Flaguais were honored. Additionally, a student jury picked TVP in Poland’s Variola Vera for a special prize.

In the audience award category, Australian broadcaster ABC’s Dustfall emerged victorious, delighting viewers with its engaging content.

The festival drew around 112,000 attendees this year, including 9,000 students who participated in various educational initiatives. The accompanying Series Mania Forum, focused on industry professionals, attracted 5,200 people from 75 countries, setting a new record with 97 exhibitors.

The event also marked a significant milestone with the signing of the Council of Europe Convention for the coproduction of series. This legal framework aims to encourage independent coproduction of TV and streaming series, with nine countries already onboard.

Looking ahead, the next Series Mania Festival is scheduled for March 19 to 26, 2027, with the Forum set to take place from March 23 to 25.
