Taylor Twellman joins Yahoo Sports for World Cup

Former ESPN soccer analyst and MLS MVP Taylor Twellman is set to join Yahoo Sports as a video contributor for the upcoming World Cup. This collaboration was confirmed, showing the reunion of Twellman with familiar faces like Ryan Spoon and Matt Ufford from his time at ESPN. Twellman shared that Yahoo’s flexibility in working around his sponsor commitments was a key factor in sealing the deal.

Throughout the World Cup tournament, Twellman will be a regular presence on Yahoo Sports Daily, co-hosted by Caroline Fenton and former ESPN colleague Jason Fitz. Additionally, he will make appearances on The Cooligans, hosted by Alexis Guerreros and Christian Polanco. Ryan Spoon mentioned that Twellman’s insights will enhance Yahoo Sports’ video coverage across various platforms this summer.

Currently, Twellman is covering the MLS for Apple TV+. He expressed his excitement about the upcoming World Cup, especially with the USMNT playing in North America. Twellman noted the significant growth in soccer awareness in the United States since the last World Cup held in the country in 1994. He also highlighted the expansion of the World Cup to 48 teams, with eight third-place teams now advancing to the knockout stage, creating an unpredictable and potentially exciting tournament.

Yahoo Sports is working with OneFootball to feature the show “The Two Robbies and Friends,” starring former soccer players Robbie Earle, Robbie Mustoe, and Kyle Martino on its platform. This partnership showcases Yahoo Sports’ commitment to diverse and engaging World Cup coverage.
