Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Cancelled After Season 2 on Paramount+

Paramount+ has officially announced the cancellation of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. The show will conclude with its completed second season, currently in post-production. This decision was confirmed by CBS Studios and Paramount+ on Monday, along with a message from the show’s producers emphasizing Gene Roddenberry’s vision and the thematic exploration that the series embarked on.

It’s official: Starfleet Academy will not return for a third season. The show recently wrapped up its first season on Paramount+, and the second season had already been filmed before the cancellation announcement.

In a joint statement, CBS Studios and Paramount+ expressed their immense pride in the series and extended their gratitude to Alex Kurtzman, Noga Landau, Gaia Violo, the cast, and the crew for bringing new characters and familiar faces to the Star Trek universe.

Producers Kurtzman, Landau, and Violo also confirmed that Season 2 will be the final season. They shared that the season is currently in post-production and thanked all the talented individuals who worked tirelessly on the show, promising a strong finish.

The producers used the announcement to underscore what Star Trek stands for, aligning with Gene Roddenberry’s beliefs in diversity, tolerance, and a future devoid of war, hatred, and poverty. They ended their statement with Roddenberry’s iconic message, “Live Long and Prosper,” directed at all future cadets of Starfleet Academy.
