Disney+ Free for Millions: Everything You Need to Know
Disney+ is opening up to millions of UK viewers for free, thanks to a new deal with Sky TV. This means that eligible new and existing Sky subscribers can now enjoy Disney+ Standard with Ads at no extra cost, or they can put that £5.99 monthly savings towards higher-tier plans. Sky is aiming to bundle multiple streaming services into a single subscription, and this move brings Disney+ and Netflix together in one place, with HBO Max and Hayu soon to follow.
For new customers, Sky’s Ultimate TV package offers a starting price of £24 per month, including Sky TV, Netflix, and Disney+. More apps will be added over time to enhance the streaming experience. Disney+ content is now fully integrated into Sky interfaces like Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Q, so you’ll see your favorite shows in Continue Watching, recommendations, and even voice search.
Existing Disney+ users can seamlessly migrate their accounts to Sky, maintaining their profiles and watch history while still benefiting from the monthly discount. Sky’s goal with this move is to simplify streaming and create a more cohesive platform that caters to all your entertainment needs. By consolidating multiple subscriptions into one bill and one interface, viewers can enjoy easier access to their favorite shows and movies.
As part of this new integration, Sky Cinema subscribers will have access to a dedicated Disney+ Cinema channel featuring around 50 films and new titles rotating weekly. Popular shows like The Bear and Andor will also appear on Sky’s linear channels, providing even more content for viewers to enjoy. This strategic move not only benefits viewers by streamlining their entertainment experience but also allows Disney+ to reach millions more households through Sky’s platform.
