Amazon to Raise Price of Ad-Free Prime Video Streaming on CNET

Amazon has some news for Prime Video fans in the US: they’re rolling out a new subscription option called Prime Video Ultra, starting on April 10th. This new plan, priced at $5 per month, will replace the existing ad-free version of Prime Video. If you currently pay extra to remove ads, you’ll automatically be switched to this new plan and pay $2 more each month, but you’ll get some cool extra features in return.

According to an email from Amazon, Prime Video Ultra subscribers will enjoy benefits like 4K UHD video, 100 downloads (up from 25), and the ability to stream on five devices at once (up from three). The regular ad-supported version of Prime Video will still be available, offering 50 downloads and the ability to stream on four devices simultaneously. If you’re already a Prime member and pay the monthly fee for Prime Video, you can opt for an annual Prime Video Ultra plan for $46.

It’s worth noting that Prime Video Ultra subscribers may still encounter ads during live TV broadcasts, certain events, and some ad-supported content and add-on subscriptions. So, if you’re thinking about making the switch to Prime Video Ultra, keep that in mind.

If you’re curious about other Prime Video perks or want to learn more about the service in general, be sure to check out Amazon’s blog post for more details. And remember, the changes are set to go into effect on April 10th, so mark your calendars if you’re an avid Prime Video viewer. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the launch date!
