Premier League Launching Singapore Streaming Service for 2026-27 Season

The Premier League is shaking things up with a brand new streaming service set to launch in Singapore next season. Dubbed Premier League Plus, this Netflix-style platform will give fans access to all 380 matches of the season, along with additional content. It’s a fresh approach to broadcasting games, moving away from the traditional rights packages sold to broadcasters.

While current deals with Sky Sports and TNT Sports in the UK won’t be affected, this new service marks an exciting development for the League. Premier League chief executive Richard Masters unveiled the service, previously known as “Premflix”, at the Financial Times Business of Football Summit in London, highlighting the careful planning behind the launch.

Masters emphasized the significance of having direct customers for the Premier League, stating, “This is a new app you can download and have on your smart TVs, your laptops, and watch 380 matches and loads of shoulder content, 24/7 channel service and it’s going to be an exciting product.” The League sees this as a learning opportunity, with plans to potentially replicate this model globally if successful.

The launch of Premier League Plus will coincide with the opening of a new Premier League Studios production hub in Olympia, London. While traditional broadcast rights have been a major revenue source for the league, this move to a subscription-based platform could provide greater control over content distribution and potentially increase revenue.

Similar streaming platforms have been set up by other sporting organizations such as the NFL, NBA, Major League Baseball, and Formula 1 in North America. The Premier League is joining the ranks of these organizations in embracing digital innovation to reach fans directly.

Exciting times lie ahead for football fans in Singapore and potentially around the world as the Premier League takes this bold step into the realm of streaming entertainment.
