SCTV to Stream in its Entirety on Prime Video: Take Off, Eh!

Canada’s iconic low-budget TV series, “SCTV,” is making a long-awaited leap into the digital age. Exciting news for fans – the entire series will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting March 3rd.

Originally created by The Second City Toronto as a TV adaptation of the comedy troupe’s live performances, “SCTV” aired on various networks in Canada and the U.S. from 1976 to 1984, showcasing offbeat and surreal sketches that helped launch the careers of many now-famous Canadian comedians. Think Catherine O’Hara, Eugene Levy, John Candy, Martin Short, Rick Moranis, Andrea Martin, and Dave Thomas.

For years, it’s been tough to track down episodes of “SCTV,” with only snippets available on YouTube. But now, thanks to a collaboration between The Second City and Prime Video, fans can enjoy all six seasons of this beloved sketch comedy series in one place.

In a nod to its legacy, the City of Toronto will be unveiling a heritage plaque to honor The Second City ahead of its 91st Mainstage Revue on March 24th.

It’s a great time to revisit this comedy classic and witness the early talents of some of Canada’s biggest stars. Don’t miss your chance to dive into the world of “SCTV” on Prime Video starting next month!
