Jay-Z “Dead Presidents” Now Available on Streaming Platforms

Jay-Z’s iconic track “Dead Presidents” has officially hit streaming platforms, celebrating its 30-year anniversary since its original release. Along with this milestone, fans and collectors can now enjoy newly pressed vinyl, cassette, and CD editions of this pivotal record.

Produced by Ski Beatz and recorded at D&D Studios, “Dead Presidents” was independently released through Roc-A-Fella Records on February 19, 1996. Serving as the lead single for Jay-Z’s debut album Reasonable Doubt, the original version of the track did not make it onto the final album. Instead, fans were treated to “Dead Presidents II,” a reworked version with new verses over the same production when Reasonable Doubt dropped in June 1996.

Sampling Nas’ hit “The World Is Yours” from Illmatic, the song’s iconic line, “I’m out for dead presidents to represent me,” became a symbol of ambition in the mid-’90s, reflecting themes of hustle and financial aspirations that defined Jay-Z’s early work.
