Netflix Cancels Popular Reboot Show After One Season

Netflix has made the tough decision to cancel the animated series “Terminator Zero” after just one season. Series creator Mattson Tomlin shared the news on X, mentioning that while the show received great reviews from both critics and viewers, it unfortunately did not attract enough viewers to continue.

Tomlin expressed his enthusiasm for the storylines planned for seasons 2 and 3, particularly the epic Future War he had in mind. However, he also acknowledged that there’s something to be said for the contained feeling of the show as it stands.

According to Deadline, “Terminator Zero” picks up immediately after the events of “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” in two different timelines: 1997 and 2022. The plot follows a soldier played by Sonoya Mizuno, who is sent back in time to 1997 to alter the course of humanity by protecting scientist Malcolm Lee, played by André Holland. Tomlin was deeply involved in the production of the show, serving as creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer alongside Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger. The series was directed by Masashi Kudo, with animation by Production IG.
