Amazon MGM Takes Offensive Stance as ‘Melania’ Faces Box Office Challenge at Super Bowl

Melania Trump’s documentary, “Melania,” is facing a tough second weekend at the box office during the Super Bowl. Initial reports suggest that it could drop to tenth place, earning around $2.4 million, or possibly slightly more in ninth place.

Amazon MGM Studios, however, remains optimistic about the film’s performance. They highlighted that “Melania” had a strong opening weekend, grossing $7.2 million, which was the best debut for a documentary in a decade, excluding concert films and nature documentaries from Disney.

According to Amazon MGM’s distribution chief Kevin Wilson, the success of “Melania” in theaters is an essential step in the film’s distribution strategy. It helps to raise awareness, engage viewers, and generate momentum leading up to its release on Prime Video.

“Melania” offers viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the 20 days leading up to former President Trump’s second inauguration in 2025. Despite a challenging second weekend, the film’s strong opening suggests that it is here to stay, whether in cinemas or on streaming platforms.
