Lucy Liu Peacock Series 2022: Superfakes Sets Directors

The new Peacock crime drama series, “Superfakes,” has officially lined up its directors. According to Variety, Jim McKay, Karena Evans, and Andrij Parekh are all set to direct episodes of the show. The series, which was announced by NBCU streamer in January 2025, will be led by Lucy Liu, along with other cast members like Ken Leung, Bohan Phoenix, Michelle Lee Jones, and Keith Leung. The show’s logline reads, “A small-time Chinatown luxury counterfeit dealer (Liu) enters a dangerous black-market underworld in order to fund a life of suburban respectability for her family.”

In the director’s chair, Evans will direct the pilot episode, while McKay is on board to direct multiple episodes. Both directors are also serving as executive producers on the show. McKay, known for his work on Paramount+ series “Tulsa King,” Apple TV’s “Smoke” and “Black Bird,” and Prime Video’s “American Rust,” has an impressive resume that includes hits like “Breaking Bad,” “Mr. Robot,” “The Americans,” and “Better Call Saul.” On the other hand, Evans has an impressive list of directorial credits that includes shows like “P-Valley,” “Snowfall,” and “Dead Ringers.”

With this talented directorial lineup and an intriguing premise, “Superfakes” is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the world of streaming entertainment.
