Lucas Gabriel vs Magomed Akaev Lightweight MMA Bout Joining ONE Fight Night 40
Lucas Gabriel and Magomed Akaev will finally face off in the ring at ONE Fight Night 40: Buntan vs. Hemetsberger II on Prime Video after a couple of delays. The event is set to air live in U.S. primetime from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, February 13.
This much-anticipated lightweight MMA clash has been a long time coming, with both Gabriel and Akaev experiencing setbacks due to injuries that resulted in two previous postponed fights. Initially scheduled for ONE Fight Night 38 on December 5, 2025, the Russian fighter had to withdraw because of injury. The bout was rescheduled for ONE Fight Night 39 on January 23, but this time, it was Gabriel who had to pull out due to injury, leading to the fight being removed from that card.
Finally, after months of waiting and two false starts, the lightweight competitors are ready to settle their business in the ring in the Thai capital this month.
Gabriel, known for his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and knockout skills, enters the fight with an impressive 10-1 record. He has been on a winning streak in the ONE Friday Fights event series, securing three victories that highlighted his relentless pressure and grappling abilities. His memorable performance includes submitting Gadzhimurad Amirzhanov, showcasing why he is considered one of the most dangerous fighters in the lightweight MMA division.
On the other side, Akaev, a 29-year-old Dagestani sanda specialist, will be looking to claim his first promotional victory following a narrow defeat in his ONE Championship debut against Ibragim Dauev in June 2025. With a 10-1 career record, Akaev will use his striking-based style to counter Gabriel’s grappling strengths and make a mark in the talent-rich lightweight MMA division.
