Lucky Chap and Big Sick duo prepare Prime Video drama
project with partner Emily V. Gordon and comic book writer Tze Chun. The show will consist of eight parts and follows a couple who have the ability to stop time whenever they have sex, using this power to rob banks.
The comic’s creators, Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky, are executive producers along with Gordon and Nanjiani. They are attached to the project through their Winter Coat Films label. The show falls under Lucky Chap’s first-look pact with Amazon MGM Studios and is part of the company’s expanding slate, which includes a remake of the video game Life Is Strange.
Peter Friedlander, global head of TV for Amazon MGM Studios, expressed excitement about the project, describing “Sex Criminals” as bold, hilarious, and wildly original. He highlighted the love story at its core, calling it deeply human and completely unexpected. Friedlander praised the fresh and emotionally grounded take that Gordon, Nanjiani, and Chun have brought to the property.
